Top 5 Wednesday: Characters I Defend

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Thoughts on Tomes and created by Lainey @ Ginger Reads Lainey. You can check out the group’s Goodreads page to join and check out the topics of the month.

This Week’s Topic: Characters you defend

Karou (The Daughter of Smoke & Bone series)

I don’t know why, but my bookish friends don’t seem to like Karou. I can kind of understand where their hatred is coming from, but Karou has a lot on her shoulders. I don’t blame her for what she has done. Seriously. She’s in a seriously crappy position throughout the series. Sure, some of the things she did was kind of stupid, but she a had a good intent behind all her actions.

Juliette (Shatter Me trilogy)

Again with Juliette, my bookish friends don’t seem to like her because she was clingy in the beginning. However, she has a lot of baggage and so I can’t blame her for the way the she reacted. As the story progressed, she grew stronger. She cares about the people around her over her own comfort.

Kelsey (Tiger’s Curse)

The reason I only like Kelsey from the first book of the series is because her character and personality takes a dive after the first book. In Tiger’s Curse, she’s very caring and makes intelligent decisions. As the series goes on, however, her emotions takes over her life. Yes, her life is hard, but she had very supportive friends. That’s why I can only defend Kelsey in the first book.

Ender (Ender’s Game)

Not a lot of people seem to like this book in general. It’s a good book. The characters are wonderful. Especially Ender. He’s pretty freaking amazing. He’s a genius. End of story.

Aelin and Rowan (Throne of Glass series)

Okay. So. There’s a lot of arguments over the ship for Aelin. Most people are rooting for Aelin and Rowan. However, for those who are still stuck with either Dorian or Chaol, seriously. Stop. Chaol has Nesryn, and I think (hopefully) Dorian will end up with Manon. And Aelin and Rowan will stay together. Rowaelin for the win!

Until next time….
