New York Times by the Book Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Poppy @ Poppy’s Best of Books. Thanks so much for tagging me! Don’t forget to check out her blog!

I haven’t seen this tag around in the book blogosphere before, but I like New York Times bestsellers and tags, so why not?

The Questions:

What book is on your nightstand right now?

I have several on my nightstand right now. I have To Kill a Mockingbird and A History of the World in 6 Glasses, which are the two summer reading books I have to read before school starts. I also have Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but I haven’t started it. It’s there to motivate me to finish my summer reading.

What was the last truly great book you read?

The last great book I read was in July, when I read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. The book is absolutely amazing, and I instantly fell in love with it at the very beginning. Kaz might be a thief, but he’s still my favorite character.

If you could meet one author (living or dead), who would it be? What would you ask?

I would love to meet J.K. Rowling. Ever since I was a child I wanted to meet the genius behind the writing. My mind would probably blank out if I meet her, but if I still have my wits, I would ask her all the questions about the Harry Potter world.

What books might we be surprised to see on your shelf?

Um. I’m not sure what other people would expect to see on my shelf. I just have a whole bunch of YA books with a couple new adult and adult books here and there.

How do you organize your personal library?

I used to organize it by author last name, but because it looked super funky, I just organize it by color now. It looks a lot nicer (and I’m all about the aesthetics).

What book have you always meant to read but haven’t gotten around to yet?

I’ve been meaning to read A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab, but I never really got around to reading it yet. I started a couple months ago, but then I never picked it up again.

Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you were supposed to like but didn’t?

I read The Raven Boys because of the hype, and I thought it was okay. I don’t love it at much as a lot of other people do, and I’m not sure why. Same with the Falling Kingdoms. I thought it was an okay book, but it wasn’t enough to make me want to read the next book. A lot of other people who like the same books as I do loved it, but for some reason I didn’t.

What kind of stories are you drawn to?

Fantasy. Definitely anything fantasy. I like books with assassins, dragons, and magic. I also appreciate a good romance. It makes my inner-fangirl happy to find another OTP to be obsessed with.

If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?

Hm… I don’t know. I’m in between choosing The Book Thief by Markus Zusak or The Help by Katherine Stockett. Both of them are amazing books that I think everyone should read.

What do you plan to read next?

After I finish reading my summer reading books, I’m going to start Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

    Great answers!
I’ll try and think of someone other than Rowling, as I seem to have Harry Potter in any Tag I do. :p
I’m terrible with Tags, but I’ll try and do this one. 🙂 Thanks for nominating me!

Great post, Jessica! I’ve got ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ lined up to be read soon too, and according to my little sister, it’s an amazing read, haha, so I can’t wait! 🙂

Thanks! I can’t wait to read the next Harry Potter book as well. A lot of people have been raving about it (because, come on, it’s Harry Potter). I lent out my copy to my sister so hopefully she finishes soon so I can start reading it as well!

Jessica! great post 🙂 I really loved reading your answers, and I have to say that A Gathering of the Shadows, is on my TBR list as well. To Kill A Mockingbird is quite splendid, and I can’t wait to see what you think.
Also, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TAG! However, I’ve already done it, and I’m sure people wouldn’t want to hear the same thing again 😉 But once again, thank you, I’m so honored 🙂

ahh! Thanks for the tag! I’ve been looking for a new book tag to do. So far most of the community is freaking out about either harry potter or pokemon go. Don’t get me wrong, I love them both, but to do a book tag on it with all the included images? Ehh. Kinda a lot of effort. Haha (i’m still gonna do it, just one day) Are you going to do those book tags?

Also thanks for the clean template! Very thoughtful of you and I’ll definitely be using it! I’ll even link back to your template so others can use it. 😀

Can’t wait to see your answers! I’ve also noticed that everyone is talking about Harry Potter and Pokemon Go, but I haven’t decided yet if I want to do the tags… 😊

I already did this tag, but thank you for nominating me 🙂 Great answers!

We all want to meet J.K Rowling, that poor woman would have a hard time fitting us all into her schedule, haha. I would love to arrange my books by color, but I don’t have the patience or the right eye to do it, so I keep it alphabetical. I was not expecting to love The Raven Boys so much, it was a total surprise. But sometimes the hype kills a story or you just don’t feel what everybody felt while reading. It happened to me with Me Before You. I found it was an okay read, but I was not moved and got bored at some point.

Oops sorry! 😁 I didn’t realize you already did this tag.
J.K. Rowling would be a very busy woman (not that she isn’t already) if she met all her fans.
I might give The Raven Boys another go sometime later because I really want to love the series as much as other people seem to like it.
