I was tagged by the lovely Sammie over at Bookshelves and Biros. Thanks so much for tagging me!
As a big foodie, this tag combining books and pastries is a dream come true. A lot of the pastries that are mentioned in this tag I’ve never tried and/or heard of before, so maybe next time I go to a bakery I might try looking for some of these.
Croissant | Name a popular book or series that everyone (including you) love
A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
I don’t know a single person that has read this series and didn’t enjoy it. If you haven’t read this series yet, what are you doing? READ IT RIGHT THIS MOMENT!
Macaroon | Name a book that was hard to get through but was worth it at the end
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson
The sheer length of this book (700+ pages) is what was so difficult about getting through it. The first 3/4 of the book was all political games, and little to no action. As much as I love the games, it went on for so long that I was getting a bit tired of it, but in the end it was totally worth it.
Vol-Au-Vent | Name a book that you thought would be amazing but fell flat
The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
It isn’t that I don’t think it’s a good book, it’s just that it’s so similar to so many other YA novels that I’ve read that it almost seemed like Victoria Aveyard compiled a whole bunch of ideas from different books and made it into one.
Pain Au Chocolat | Name a book that you thought would be one thing but turned out to be something else
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer
I didn’t expect much when I started Cinder. I thought it was going to be your typical cheesy, cute fairytale retelling, but it turned out to be so much more than that.
Profiterole | Name a book or series that doesn’t get enough attention
Jackaby series by William Ritter
I don’t know why, but I don’t know many people that has read this series. If you like Sherlock, you’re definitely going to love Jackaby.
Croquembouche | Name a book or series that’s extremely complex
Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
Napoleon | Name a movie or TV show based off a book that you liked better than the book itself
I don’t have one for this question. I don’t watch many TV shows or movies, and the ones that I do I like the books more than the adaptations.
Empanada | Name a book that was bittersweet
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
This made me cry so hard. That ending. It’s just… *tears up*
Kolompeh | Name a book or series that takes place somewhere other than your home country
Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor
This is the one and only YA series that I know of and read that takes place in the Middle East.
Pate A Choux | Name one food from a book or series that you would like to try
Butterbeer from Harry Potter series
Any fan of Harry Potter would want to try butterbeer. I tried the butterbeer frappuccino at the Starbucks at Barnes and Noble when they were doing a Harry Potter birthday party a couple years back, but I want to try the actual drink the characters had in the book.
I tag…
everyone! If you want to do this, consider yourself tagged!

Great answers!! Now that I think about, I haven’t met anyone who didn’t enjoy ACOTAR! It’s spectacular!
I’m sorry Red Queen didn’t work out for you. Did you try Glass Sword?
I also like books set in interesting places, and I believe that The Wrath & The Dawn is actually set in the Middle East if you’ve read that one.
Apparently I missed out on the Butterbeer Frappucino, but I think that’s something everyone Potterhead would love to try! 🙂

Thanks! ACOTAR is one of my fav series. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love it!
I haven’t tried Glass Sword yet, but maybe in the future I will.
I’ve read The Wrath & the Dawn, and loved it. I still haven’t read the sequel, but I’m hoping to get to it soon.
The Butterbeer frappuccino was pretty good (from what I remember) and hopefully they’ll bring it back sometime soon 😀

I personally didn’t like Glass Sword as much as Red Queen, but who knows, maybe you’ll like it more!
I actually just got The Rose & The Dagger from the library today, and I’m kind of relieved it’s the final book. It’s nice to read a short(er) series from time to time. ❤

Hmm… I’ll still try and give Glass Sword a shot.
Yeah, it’s pretty nice to have a series once in a while that’s not three books or longer 🙂

I was hoping to see that you loved Red Queen! That’s actually on my next to be read book and now I’m nervous! I’m currently struggling because my book at the moment is slightly dragging and I was hoping that this one would be a good one to make up for it! Awesome tag, I love the pastry idea!

It’s not that I hated Red Queen or anything. I just didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I would give it a try. A lot of other people really enjoyed it. 😀

ooh… I have to agree with you on Cinder, I underestimated it way too much, and I was so wrong after reading it, it has become and will always be one of my favorite series of all time! ^^ I’m going to do this tag, as someone who loves to cook with pastry 😀

Same here! I majorly underestimated the Lunar Chronicles.
Can’t wait to see your answers! 😀

Do you mind if I also use Lunar Chronicles for the pain au chocolat category?

Of course you can use it! 😀

Yay! Great answers. 🙂 I think a lot of people have a similar feeling when it comes to The Red Queen. I haven’t read it because the opinion seems to be so mixed! x

Thanks! Some people enjoyed The Red Queen while others didn’t. I guess I happen to be one of the ones who didn’t…
