Dream Reading Space

Finding or creating the ideal reading place can be tricky. Any reader knows that there really isn’t a comfortable position to read books (if you have discovered one, please let me know). Sitting down for too long can make your bum go numb (it rhymed!), and lying on your back means that you’re arms will get tired from holding up the book for so long. Plus, you have a higher risk of dropping the book on your face, which isn’t a pleasant experience.

I was inspired by Arhaus.com to create my dream reading space. I had never designed a room before, but it was super fun to experiment around.

Here’s what I came up with.

If I had a room solely dedicated to reading, I would want the atmosphere to be cozy. I want it to be like snuggling in a warm, fluffy blanket with a hot cup of tea on a cold night. The kind of cozy where you never want to leave.

Keep in mind that I chose these items while disregarding the price. I was pretending I had unlimited cash and I wanted to build  my dream reading room.

— Walls —

Rain in Flat
I think blue is a calming color, and this shade is pale enough to not distract me from reading but also bright enough to make the room seem less stark.

— Seating —

Landsbury 99
I constantly switch positions whenever I’m reading, and this sectional couch is a great choice allows me to do just that. If it was a chair, I wouldn’t have that freedom. This couch is the perfect size for me to choose whether I want to lay down on my back or stomach, or just sit like a normal person.

— Furniture —

Palmer Nesting Coffee Table Set in Bali Brown
I LOVE THESE KINDS OF COFFEE TABLES! The mama table has two baby tables that you can move wherever you need them.

Toulon 24
I always like to have a drink or food with me whenever I read, and this end table would be the perfect thing to hold them. Also, I can stash my notebook and pens underneath in case I want to annotate or write something down for my next review.

Palmer 40
It’s a bookshelf. I have lots of books. ‘Nuff said.

— Lighting —

Orson Floor Lamp in Brass
My eyes are sensitive to light, and certain brightness and colors of lighting can make my head hurt. That’s why I thought it would be a good idea to have a couple lamps around to alter the room’s lighting whenever needed.
Mina Floor Lamp
This floor lamp is height ajustable, and it looks cool. Whever I’m reading at night, I would turn this lamp on and have it hang over the book I’m reading.

— Decor —

I like maps.

— Rug —

Marciano Grey 8' x 10' Shaggy Rug
Because this whole room is focused on comfort, a fluffy rug would add a nice homey touch.

That’s it! If you want to check out more of the furniture and decor, you can check out  Arhaus.com.

What are some things you want in your perfect reading space?

What’s your favorite snack/drink to consume while devouring a good book?

Do you know any comfortable reading positions?
(Because I would really like to know XD)

Until next time….

Hi, I did this too! It was super fun 🙂
I loved the map you chose. Once I did a 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle portraying a vintage map, then we glued it together and used it as a painting for the living room

That’s pretty cool! How long did it take you to finish the puzzle?

Around a month. I worked on it with my parents when I was a teen and we only did it in out spare time, but it was a good passtime 🙂
