Un-To-Be-Read

I was recently going through my Goodreads TBR list to see what I could potentially read to get out of my reading slump and I realized that there are a lot of books that I have on there that I have no interest in reading anymore. Some of the books on the list I added several years ago and never got around to reading.

Because of the large amount of books on my TBR list that I don’t want to read anymore, I thought it would be high time that I take them off. I compiled a list of books I’m going to un-TBR (is there another term for taking books off your TBR shelf?).

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

I wasn’t really interested in this book when I first added it into my TBR list several years ago. I added it because my sister really enjoyed it when she was a teenager. I don’t think I will read it any time soon.

Looking for Alaska by John Green

I bought the book to read for a book club but ended up not reading it because I didn’t have enough time. Like Thirteen Reasons Why, I never really wanted to read the book. I just got it because it was required reading.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira

I discovered this book through a BookTuber (I don’t remember who) and thought it was interesting at the time. As time wore on, I’ve started to lose interest in it. On top of that, I haven’t heard many good things about the story or the characters.

Mosquitoland by David Arnold

I don’t remember why I put this in my TBR in the first place.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

My friend really enjoyed this book, but warned me it’s a bit spooky. I don’t do spooky. I can barely watch trailers of horror movies. I’m not going to read a whole entire book, thank you very much.

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks

This is another one of those books that have been on my TBR list for so long that I haven’t read that I question whether or not I still want to read it.

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

I’m pretty sure I heard about this book from a BookTuber and added it onto my list without really knowing what it is about. Reading the blurb on Goodreads, I realize now that I’m not that interested in the story. I don’t have a lot of time to read, so I want to spend what little free time I have reading something I’m interested in.

Off the Page by Jody Picot and Samantha Van Leer

I haven’t heard many good things about this book. Everyone who has read it has told me it was mediocre (sorry to those who like the book, I’m just relaying the message of my friends). Because my friends and I have the same taste in books, I’m probably not going to read this anytime soon.

The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

Meh. I feel indifferent about this book, so I’m deleting it off of the list.

Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

Out of all the books on this post, this is the one I’m most hesitant to take off my TBR list. I think someone recommended it to me, but I don’t remember what they said that convinced me to add it to my list. If any of you guys liked this book, can you tell me what about it that you liked? I read the summary and I’m unsure as to whether or not I should keep it on my list.

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

Divergent was a huge hit for Veronica Roth. I added her newest book onto my TBR without looking at the blurb because I was going to meet her at a book festival. In the end, I wasn’t able to actually meet her because it turns out I needed a ticket and I had to choose between R.L. Stine and Veronica Roth (you couldn’t get tickets for both) and I had to choose the source of my childhood nightmares, R.L. Stine. Looking at the summary now, I can tell this book won’t be up my alley.

RoseBlood by A.G. Howard

I added this because I was reading A.G. Howard’s other series, Splintered, at the time. However, ever since I’ve added the book to my TBR, I haven’t been hearing a lot of good things about it. The Splintered series was okay, so if RoseBlood is allegedly worse than that, then I don’t think I’ll enjoy it.

Are there any books you think I should keep on my TBR list?

What are some books that you recommend I add to my TBR?

Are there any books on your TBR that you really need to read?

Until next time….

Excellent idea! I do this all the time to keep my wishlists organised … I wish I had enough money and time to read everything, but since I can’t, I gotta choose. I also had Of Poseidon on my list, but I think I deleted it a few weeks ago :/

I liked Ink and Bone Jessica… It has a group setup and there are multiple POVs. There is a school setting but it transitions to a sort of battlefield. It’s about a future world without the printing press where alchemy is used in its place… It was a pretty fun adventure but you’d have to be in it for the long haul… there are more than 3 books! ❤ It's good to cut when you can… why read something you're no longer interested in!?

I’ll give it a shot! That was one of the ones on the list that I was hesitant to take off.
