The Fall Time Cozy Book Tag

I don’t know about you, but where I live the fall weather just hit me smack in the face. It went from being 95 degrees down to the low 60s (that’s 35 and 16 degrees Celsius respectively for you metric people) in the span of two days (I really wish I was joking). Not only that, I live in a place where it’s mainly hot and dry, and all of a sudden it started raining a lot this past week. And one of the windows of my car is broken and I can’t roll it back up. Thankfully I duct taped it shut from the inside right before it rained the heck out because I would have had to deal with a lot of water damage inside my car if I didn’t.

In short, it’s fall season beeches.

And I wanted to do a post to reflect that.

I wasn’t tagged by anyone, but I saw Heather @ The Sassy Book Geek do this and wanted to give it a shot because it looked fun.

This tag was created by Sam @ Novels and Nonsense over on YouTube.

Crunching Leaves: The world is full of color. Choose a book that has reds, oranges, and yellows on the cover.

I chose Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh because not only is the cover stunning, the story is also great. I haven’t read the second book yet, but I’m hoping to get to it really soon. It has elements of Mulan in it, and I think it has elements of Japanese folklore in it (if I remember correctly).

Cozy Sweater: It’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing. What book gives you the warn fuzzies?

I’ve got a couple for you because five book recommendations are better than one

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

I mean… have you read about Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky? They’re so cute that sometimes I physically combust thinking about how cute they are.

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

The emails between Simon and “Blue” are too cute, honestly. It makes me want to have a pen pal but I’m filled with way too much anxiety and social awkwardness that I don’t think I’d be able to keep up.

A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas

The story itself is not very cutesy but I love the relationship between Feyre and a certain someone (won’t reveal the name for those who haven’t read it but for those who have know who I’m talking about). This character is so sweet to Feyre and so supportive that I just want to bundle them both in a blanket burrito and hug and cherish them forever.

I just realized that my emotional investment in these fictional characters are seriously getting out of hand.

Lumberjanes series by a bunch of different authors and artists

This series is all about friendship, and these group of girls go off into epic adventures to save their friends in times of danger.

It’s a graphic novel series, and everyone should read it. It’s super cute.

Little Moments of Love by Catana Chetwynd

This is a comic compilation book by an artist that I follow on Instagram called Catana Comics. Her small comics are mainly about her relationship with her boyfriend (I don’t know if they’re married or engaged or something so I’m just assuming their boyfriend and girlfriend), and they give me the warm fuzzy feeling in the inside whenever I read them.

Fall Storm: The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favorite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day.

Fantasy all the way baby! It could be rain or shine and I’ll be reading fantasy books. There’s just something so epic while it’s pouring outside and you’re reading a really intense battle scene. It feels like sound effects, almost. It’s great, honestly, and light raining is probably one of the best weathers to snuggle up and read a good book.

Cool Crisp Air: What’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

Image result for to all the boys i've loved before cover

I read a lot of fantasy books, and I really don’t want to trade places with any of them because I would die instantly. I will take the mundanity of my life over the insanity that they’re going through. I’m okay with safely living vicariously through their stories. That being said, if I just HAD to switch places with a character, I would probably go the contemporary route and say Lara Jean from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series. She has a bomb wardrobe and a great fashion sense (which sadly I can’t say for myself). She also have a loving family, friends, and Peter Kavinsky. Sure, her life isn’t perfect, but it is pretty gosh darn cute.

Hot Apple Cider: What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

THE JACKABY SERIES BY WILLIAM RITTER. I love this series, and I’m surprised it’s not that big. It reminds me of Sherlock Holmes with a splash of paranormal and fantasy. It’s great. It everything I could’ve asked for. A light (not creepy) mystery series with some magical elements in it. What’s not to like?

Coats, Scarves, and Mittens: The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep it hidden in public?

I don’t own any books that have such an embarrassing cover that I feel the need to hide it. If the person next to me doesn’t like the cover, well then, that’s their problem, not mine.

Pumpkin Spice: What’s your favorite fall time comfort food/foods?

I’ll be honest with you… I’ve never tried a pumpkin spice latte.

*le gasp*

I know… it’s weird for me to be born and raised in America and not have tried a PSL, but I don’t get the appeal of it. Maybe it’s because I’m not the biggest fan of pumpkin spice in general (I don’t hate it but I don’t ever crave it either). Anyway, I digress.

Image result for thanksgiving food gif

I like any Thanksgiving food except turkey (which is kind of ironic). I guess that’s my favorite fall time food because that’s the only fall seasonal food I can think of.

Omigosh, I totally agree about the Jackaby series! It’s so underhyped, but it’s amazing and totally perfect for the fall season. You had some great picks in here, too, and I’m excited for the fall reads to begin. Great post! 🙂

Finally! A fellow bookworm who has read Jackaby! I’ve been trying to convince my friends to read the series but with little success. I’m so happy that I’m not the only one that has read it and enjoyed it ❤️

Omigosh, YES. Me and my friend accidentally discovered it right around when the second book was coming out, and we fell in love. But it’s so so good that hopefully your friends will see the Jackaby light!
