The Game of Thrones Book Tag

If you’ve been on the internet lately, you’ve probably noticed the buzz about the Game of Thrones season finale coming out. THAT DAY HAS OFFICIALLY COME, MY FRIENDS. (Well, it was a couple days ago, but that’s beside the point.)

I’ll be completely honest with you: I haven’t gotten around to watching Season 7.
*le gasp*
Yes… I know… shame on me. I was waiting to watch it closer to when Season 8 was going to be released but it slipped my mind. Hey, at least that means I get two seasons worth of new content for this series! Anyway, I digress.

I decided to do this book tag in order to celebrate the last season of GoT. I’m not ready. No one is ready. Let’s do this.

HOUSE LANNISTER: HEAR ME ROAR – Name a book that you originally loved, but upon a re-read realized that it wasn’t so great after all.

I honestly can’t think of a book I’ve reread that I hated the second time around. I haven’t reread this series, but I started The Tiger Saga liking the characters and the story but ended it less than impressed.

HOUSE STARK: WINTER IS COMING – Name your most anticipated book release for 2017.

Rather than choosing a book from 2017, I chose a book from this year to be more up-to-date. I’m super excited for Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, which is coming out early May. After finishing The Illuminae Files by them I wanted more. Although it’s not in the same world, I know it’s going to be equally as epic. In fact, I’m so excited that I actually pre-ordered the book. (For perspective, I never preorder books because I either forget or want to borrow it from the library. The last time I preordered something was probably for An Ember in the Ashes in 2016.)

HOUSE TARGARYEN: FIRE AND BLOOD – Name a book that you felt completely slayed with fantastic characters, plot, pacing, etc.

You guys know which series I’m going to choose. THRONE OF GLASS. It’s a great series. Enough said.

HOUSE BARATHEON: OURS IS THE FURY – Name a book that ended with a cliffhanger ending that genuinely pissed you off.

I can’t remember which book it was, but there was this one book in the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan where Annabeth and Percy was literally hanging on a cliff, and the book ended. I was so upset because I had to wait a year or so for the next book to see what happens next.

HOUSE MARTELL: UNBOWED. UNBENT. UNBROKEN. – Name a book, or book series, that’s been on your TBR since the dawn of time.

Sabriel by Garth Nix has been in my TBR since I first created a Goodreads account. I honestly think it was the first book I added to my TBR. I added it because when I first met Sarah J. Maas she talked about how Throne of Glass was sort of inspired by him. Also, I heard that it was a good series in general.

HOUSE BOLTON: OUR BLADES ARE SHARP – Name the most graphic or disturbing book that you’ve ever read.

I’m not one to really like the horror/suspense genre, so the more disturbing book I’ve read was by Stephen King called The Dead Zone. Never again will I read another Stephen King book. I’m too much of a chicken.

HOUSE TYRELL: GROWING STRONG – Name a book, or book series, that gets better and better with every re-read.

I mean… no one is going to be surprised with my answer when I say the Harry Potter series. I don’t tend to reread books because I have too many books I want to get to and not enough time. I make an exception for Harry Potter, though.
