I normally don’t post on Sundays, but today is slightly special. It marks the day I have officially been book blogging for FIVE YEARS. My goodness, how time flies! I didn’t think I could ever keep up a personal project for that long yet here we are.
In honor of today, I decided to do a little something….
I’m finally updating the graphics on my blog! If you’ve looked at some of my more recent posts, you might’ve noticed me slowly but surely changing the banners and graphics. It’s been about three (?) years since I’ve last done this, and it’s long overdue. To celebrate five years in the book blog community, I commissioned something special from Karen Alleluia! She’s an amazing artist that I follow on Instagram! When she opened up her commissions a couple months ago, I was lucky enough to snag a spot.
I requested something different from my current logo (my unicorn onesie days have been behind me for a while), because I wanted to update it to something that more accurately represented me. There have been a couple delays, so unfortunately I won’t be able to show you what it looks like today. However, once I do get the final piece, I will definitely be incorporating it into my blog and posts, so look out for that!
Something that I can show you, however, is the graphics that I designed myself! You might also have noticed that the post dividers (the little line thingies that I put between sections in my posts) have been updated! I was getting a little sick and tired of looking at the same ole’ arrow, so I digitally drew my own.
I noticed that my previous blog header design kept on getting cut off when in mobile and tablet mode, so I switched it up and took the logo out entirely while also revamping the lettering.
I think it looks a lot cleaner and more “professional” than my previous one… Plus now it looks like the letters are underwater/in some hazy mountains!
Most of the things that I updated are minor aesthetic changes. I also redid the most of the pages including the about me page (it’s nothing much, but I’m proud of the drawing I included in it). The page where I list all the books I’ve reviewed has been reorganized and split into two sub-pages. Basically, I changed a couple things to make the whole viewing experience here on The Awkward Book Blogger a little more pleasing.
I still can’t believe that I’ve been blogging for half a decade now, and I have you guys (a.k.a. the wonderful bookish community) to thank for that!
Thank you for all the lovely comments and conversations! As a very shy, socially awkward introvert, I find it hard to talk to people, even online. However, you amazing human beans make it much easier to open up and socialize with all your kindness and excitement for books.
So, once again, THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN AMAZING PERSON. Yes, you. Thank you for giving me a little chunk of your time. I know you’re busy, and your time is limited. You could’ve spent your free time doing other things like… I don’t know… clipping the grass outside by hand (actually please don’t do that) or listening to your favorite podcast. Instead, you deemed me worthy enough of a bit of your time, and I can’t help but be extremely humbled.
Being a part of this wonderful community and sharing my love for books with others has made the past couple years (especially this year) bearable. Plus, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of this amazing online community. AH I know I’ve said this a lot but THANK YOU! ❤
Stay awkward and amazing!
Congrats and happy blogiversary!

Congratulations & Happy Blogiversary!!! ❤ I hope the next 5 years will be full of lovely comments, new friends and many interesting books! 😀
P.S. I've been meaning to add more things to my blog for years now (like the Disclaimers and other boring things 😀 ) but never seem to find the time to do it. Hopefully, next year? Ahah
