The month of August went by way to quickly. I feel like summer just started yesterday and now I’m going back to school.
I’m a little bit overwhelmed with the workload (as I have never taken this many advanced classes at once), but I feel like after a couple weeks or so I’ll find a good routine.
For now, I’m going to take Lilly Singh’s advice and just HUSTLE!
July has been a pretty lowkey month for me, thankfully. I finally had more time to read the books I wanted to rather than read old English that I had to pretend to understand (although I’m sure my English teachers weren’t fooled).
I might not have posted a lot this month (with a whopping total of five posts not including this one) but then I looked back on the past couple months and the amount of posts I make have continually decreased. Now it hovers between 4-6 posts a month. I would say that I plan to post a lot more often but I know I won’t be able to when the new school year comes around.
Minus the fact that I didn’t post as frequently as I would like, I definitely read a lot more than I usually do, which feels GREAT. I can’t believe I was depriving myself of this.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a haul. Probably because I’ve been trying to be better at buying less books. Did that work? Kind of….
Actually, not really. I try to limit myself to one physical book a month (if I buy zero, even better) to save some money but they are all MY PRECIOUSSSSSSSSSS.
Also, I know this is totally irrelevant but it’s late at night when I’m writing this and it’s raining really hard and I’m kind of scared my windows will break even though I know they probably won’t. Keep in mind I live in a place that is lucky to see any weather other than hot, extra hot, heat stroke, and crispy.
April was a low-key month for me reading-wise. I can’t say the same thing for my school life, however. My classes have all started dishing out their end-of-year projects and I still need to study for all my AP exams this year. Wish me luck because my first one is this Tuesday >.<
I also haven’t been posting as frequently as I want to. I aim to post once every two days, but now my schedule has turned into posting whenever I can. I must’ve done something bad in my previous life because karma wasn’t on my side this month. Not only did I have writer’s block, I also was in a artist’s block and reading slump.
Basically, I got nothing productive done.
What I did get done was read through several comics on Tapastic because that’s all my brain was happy to handle. (Which, btw, if you haven’t checked out my web comic you definitely should because you really want to support your fellow artist here, eh?)
I didn’t get as many books as I normally do, which is good. I’m trying to cut down the number of physical books I buy and slowly convert to ebooks because they’re cheaper and easier to carry around.
Being in a reading slump sucks. However, that doesn’t stop me from wanting some new releases that are coming out this month!

New year, new books! There are a lot of great books that are coming out this year that I’m super excited for. Many are part of a series, but some are new series. I linked their Goodreads page in case you wanted to add some book to your TBR pile.
All of these release dates may change.

WARNING: The synopses might have spoilers if it isn’t the first book in the series.
I put a spoiler alert to the books that aren’t the first in the series.
I don’t follow TBRs all that well. I just read whatever I feel like at that time. However, there are a couple books I really need to read before 2017 is over or else I’m going to not be happy with myself. Most of these book are ones that I’ve owned for a long time but haven’t read. If I don’t set goals for myself, I’m probably never going to read them. That’s why I’m making a book bucket list of 2017.
New month means new book releases. I’m in a book buying ban right now because I already have too many books that I own but haven’t read. I need to get onto that.
However, that doesn’t stop me from being excited for some new releases.

I’ve made it my mission to set some goals for my blog every year. It’s kind of like that saying “there is always room for improvement”. I know my blog isn’t perfect, and I believe that there is always something that I can improve on it. Every year I set goals to (hopefully) make some improvements in hopes to make my blog better than it was the year before.
I have three goals for my blog next year.
1. Stop rambling!
I tend to ramble on my posts. I also tend to repeat a lot of the things I’ve already said before. I need to stop doing that.
2. Quality over quantity.
I try to post once every two days, and sometimes that goal reduces the quality of what I write. I need to focus more on what I’m writing rather than how much I’m writing. This might mean less frequent posting, however.
3. Keep the blog true to myself.
I started this blog because I wanted to talk about one my of biggest passions: books. I made this blog for myself, and so I want to keep it true to myself. I don’t want to act like someone else. This blog is me, therefore it should portray who I am, imperfections and all.
Happy New Year! Hopefully 2017 will be better than 2016.
How was your 2016?
What are some of your goals for 2017?
Are there any books that are being released in 2017 that you’re excited for?
Until next time….
