The This or That Challenge

Happy Thursday everyone! I was going to write a review for a book I finished last month, but I realized that I don’t have enough brain power to analyze what I liked and disliked about said book. That’s why for today I’m just going to do a challenge. Easy peasy.

I learned a lot about Norees through this challenge, one thing being that she thinks Marvel is better than DC (which I wholeheartedly agree).

I was tagged by the lovely Norees @ No Reads Too Great. Here are the rules:

Tag the creators @bookprincessreviews
Share one thing you learned about the person who tagged you
Pick either THIS or THAT for each prompt
Tag at least two other bloggers you want to get to know better

Do I Have That Book Challenge

I was just scrolling through my YouTube feed to find a video so I had an excuse to procrastinate, when I came across this book challenge. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve watched a BookTube video, so I was intrigued. After watching Keeping Tabs (the creator) take a stab at her own challenge, I wanted to give it a shot!

Granted, I recently got rid of 60+ books from my shelf so this might be a bit more difficult.

Oh well.

The general rules I got from her instructions were this:

1. Time yourself trying to find each prompt on your shelf
2. Try and beat the time of the person who challenged you.
3. Don’t forget to tag your challenger and the original creator.
4. Have fun!

I decided that rather than time myself and cause my stress levels to go off the charts, I would just try and find each prompt on my shelf. Each prompt that I find a book for will count as a point. The max amount of points is 20 (since there’s 20 prompts). Plus, me just telling the time it took me to find all these books would not be that exciting.

It occurs to me now that this challenge is probably more enjoyable in video form, but alas, I am not a BookTuber. I apologize in advanced.

Four-Word Summary Challenge

I was watching the Try Guys the other week and their video of celebrating their four-year anniversary by playing a game where they pick a slip of paper with titles of videos they made and try to explain it to their partners in four words in four seconds. I thought that would be fun to apply to books, so here we are.

Because I don’t make videos or write books, I’m using a list of books that I’ve read. I wrote down a whole bunch of (hopefully) well-known YA books and selected 15 of them to try and make a summary in four words (or less).

The two rules I have are:

  1. I’m not allowed to use any words in the book title
  2. I’m not allowed to use any character names.

If you want to play along, you can try and guess what book I’m talking about after reading my short summary and then click the drop down to reveal the title. For the most part, if a book is part of a series, I used the first book just so there would be less spoilers.

One-Liner Challenge

One-Liner Challenge.PNG

I saw a post recently by Epic Reads of a whole bunch of TL;DR summaries for YA books. I thought it would be a fun idea to make a challenge to do a whole bunch of one-liner summaries. Except for this post, I wanted to do something a little bit different. Not only do I have to summarize the book in one sentence, I also have to poke fun at it. Think of it as a one-liner roast.

For this challenge, I decided to do YA fantasy books because it’s my favorite genre.

(Disclaimer: I love all of these books and don’t mean any harm towards the stories, the authors, and their fans. This is just for fits and giggles.)

The Rules:

1. Accept and thank your challenger(s) by linking back to their post.
2. Make a post of one-sentence summaries and/or roasts of at least five books.
3. No spoilers!
4. Link back to The Awkward Book Blogger so she can see your post.
5. Challenge as many or as little people as you want!
6. Have fun!
