TBR Cleanse – Kick or Keep? Pt. 1

Recently, I’ve been seeing a couple people going through their TBR on Goodreads and deciding which books to keep and which books to take out as a sort of “clean-up”. Over the years, I’ve been adding books to my TBR but sometimes never get to them or lose interest, but I’ve been too lazy to actually take them out of my TBR shelf. I’m hoping by doing this cleanse I’ll clean up my TBR list and reintroduce myself to some of the older books on the shelf.

There are many different ways other people did this “cleanse”, but this is the way I’m going to do it:

  1. Choose the first 10 books in your TBR list.
  2. Read the blurb.
  3. Decide whether to keep it or “kick” it out of the list.
  4. Repeat with the next 10 books every week until you go through the whole list.

(All the blurbs were taken from Goodreads.)

June 2018 TBR

Summer has officially started for me, and since I’m so behind on my reading schedule, I decided to make a little TBR to encourage myself to get backing into reading.

Plus, I have so many books I need to catch up on that I need to force myself to start reading them or I will forever be behind.

My Name in TBR Books Tag

image

I’ve been in a bit of a slump with blog posts. I haven’t been able to think of ideas of what to write that got me excited. Thankfully, Bookish Owlette tagged me in this awesome and challenging book tag. Thank you so much for tagging me! šŸ˜€

What you’re suppose to do is take your name and find a book on your TBR that starts with each letter of your name. Unfortunately for me, my blog name is rather long, but I never say no to a good challenge!

Un-To-Be-Read

I was recently going through my Goodreads TBR list to see what I could potentially read to get out of my reading slump and I realized that there are a lot of books that I have on there that I have no interest in reading anymore. Some of the books on the list I added several years ago and never got around to reading.

Because of the large amount of books on my TBR list that I don’t want to read anymore, I thought it would be high time that I take them off. I compiled a list of books I’m going to un-TBR (is there another term for taking books off your TBR shelf?).

Books I’m Ashamed I Haven’t Read Yet

I’m a slow reader. On top of that, my mind is super picky on what it wants to read and when. On top of that, school has started and I have little to no free time to read. That being said, I have not read a lot of books that everyone else is the YA community seems to have read. It seems like I’m the only one who hasn’t read these books yet, and I feel slightly embarrassed, especially since I own physical copies of most of the books.

I’m hoping that by acknowledging that I haven’t read these book, I’ll motivate myself to read them soon.

I Need Book Recommendations

I cleaned out my TBR on Goodreads a couple days ago and now want more books to fill it up. Any suggestions?

I read:

young adult, new adult, adult…

fantasy
sci-fi
romance
contemporary
historical fiction
paranormal
fiction in general

The books you suggestion don’t have to be in these genres. I’m open to anything.

To get a better idea of what I enjoy, here are some of my favorite books/series:

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
anything by Cassandra Clare
Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Please give some suggestions because I’m desperate to discover new great books that I never knew existed!

All the Series Ever (Read, Reading, To Be Read) Tag

image

I was tagged by the lovely Aralyn over at Paper Addictions & Magic. Thanks so much for tagging me! I was looking for a good tag to do, and Aralyn just gave me one.

This tag was created by Fadwa over at Word Wonders.

The only rule that goes with this tag is that you write down whatever comes to mind first when you think about a book series that you’ve either read, are reading, or going to read.

I will only consider a series “read” if I’ve read all the books in the series. This means unfinished series like Throne of Glass and The Dark Artifices will not be considered “read” (they would be considered “currently reading”). Although I believeĀ novellas are a part of a series, I will not include them in this tag.
